VitaMix Mango Spinach Green Smoothie Weight Loss

“Even My Husband Loves It”
Today I am showing you how to make Maria’s Mango Banana Green Smoothie. Maria wrote in and said, “Hi Jane, I just came up with a wonderful, naturally sweet green smoothie that I just had to tell you about. Even though I love the flavor of spinach, you can’t taste it in this drink, it mostly tastes like banana and the sweetness comes from the mango. Even my husband loves it.” When the guys love the green smoothies, you know you have a winner. “It’s a beautiful color and has a fantastic flavor.”
One banana, frozen. One mango, peeled and sliced. 2 cups of fresh baby spinach, more or less if you’d like. Some water, depending on how thick or thin you like your smoothies, and an optional TBS of hemp powder. I didn’t have any hemp powder, but I have some hemp seeds that are already shelled, so I just put a tablespoon into my coffee or spice grinder, if you have one, and I instantly made hemp powder out of it. So try not to run to the store if you don’t have to. Make do with what you have.
“Could you talk about weight loss a little bit?”
Look how beautiful the blender is. We’ve got the banana, the mango, the spinach. I can tell this is thick, that’s okay, I think I’m going to like it. Add water if you like. Let’s check out the aroma. Perfect. There are no additional sweeteners in this. Just the beautiful, ripe, natural sweetness of the mango. The natural sweetness of the banana. This will keep me going all morning, up until lunch time. See, I received a letter from Nancy and she asked, “Could you talk about weight loss a little bit?”
Well, you know that ultimately weight loss is a math problem. You must expend more calories than you take in. But the secret to the nutrient dense calories? Not all calories are equal. You can consume more of them, at least I can. Here’s what I do for weight loss. I’m not a doctor, I can’t tell you what to do, I truly don’t know what will work for you except less calories in or more calories expended. But if you have a smoothie like this and you start your day with it… … this is delicious.. Maria, it’s a winner. You’ve gotta have a ripe mango for this. I would sip on this all morning long. I would make the full half gallon. I would just load it up, sip on this all morning long until lunch time. What works for me is I sip my green smoothies all morning until lunch time, if I want to lose weight, and then if I can, I don’t eat after 6pm. Now granted, I’m over 50 and we have a different metabolism. I don’t care how hard you work out, how many weights you lift, the metabolism slows down.
Eat With Joy
But for me, green smoothies until lunch. Have a nice lunch, enjoy your food, eat what you want. Sip green smoothies or my Beauty Waters until dinner. Have a nice dinner, enjoy your food, eat what you want. Then stop. You don’t have to eat all night. Tomorrow you get to eat again. So if I get to where I want to munch, you know how you graze during the evening? I just tell myself, tomorrow will be here soon enough, I can begin eating all over agin. So there’s no need to panic. Delicious… gorgeous color… psychologically satisfying, physically satisfying, nutritionally satisfying, with superior, nutrient dense calories. I think I probably eat more than the average person, but when you’re eating waterful foods, they fill you up, they clean you out, you always feel fantastic. So that’s my weight loss philosophy. Of course, I didn’t start out that way. I have decades of “dieting” behind me like everybody else. Yuch, hate that word, don’t do it anymore. Eat with joy. Consume your green smoothies with joy. The joy is in the waterful food.
Maria’s Mango-Banana Green Smoothie Recipe:
2 cups spinach
1 large ripe mango, peeled and sliced
1 frozen banana
1 TBS hemp powder, optional
1 cup water, optional

Jane, I am not a big coconut fan, but bcesuae it has such good nutrition I will use the water and now the flesh in what looks like a great salad. I really think its the dehydrated coconut I don’t like that much.Thank you for another great recipe!!!

[..YouTube..] glad i found this video. i just made this and it tastes yummy with mango and spinach. i used fresh pineapple instead of banana and i also had arugula, frissee, and purple cabbage and i added a sprig of ginger for extra kick and it was so wonderfully delicious. thanks! this video helped me to make a delicious green smoothie.

[..YouTube..] Hey Jane, I wanted to ask if you think there is any benefit from frozen spinach (those tiny cubes of frozen spinach leaves) and I’m asking that for two reasons: first, it would come in handy when the spinach season is over, and second, I live alone and I don’t like too much spinach in my smoothies or elsewhere, so I would probably have to throw away half of the fresh spinach and I don’t want to throw away food.

I always have to eat right before I go to bed or I can’t sleep I am so hungry… and then sometimes if I don’t eat right before bed, I will wake in the middle of the night with major hunger pains. [..YouTube..] I am getting so confused about juicing vs blending. Wouldn’t it have been better to juice the spinach in a masticating juicer, and then adding that to the blender? I keep hearing that the high rpms of the blender will oxidize the veggies.

The rpms of the blender may not preserve as much nutrition as a juicer but I get so many fruits and veg that I don’t concern myself with it. For me, it’s about keeping it simple and the VitaMix keeps it so simple and easy that I get my greens every day, which is what I like to do. Plus I get the fiber which is removed in juicing. I like juicing AND blending, for me it’s not either/or.
