My VitaMix Anti Aging Creamy Strawberry Lime Slushie is a takeoff on my Orangeade and Lemon slushies.

greenerpastures1000 wrote in and suggested I use limes – and I did and it is fabulous!

Hints of frozen strawberries and lime, vanilla and almond milk sweetened with Medjool dates makes for a silky smooth and refreshing summer sipper.

Lemon, Lime, Orange

Well, greenerpastures1000, I’ve taken your advice and I’m making a version with lime. Only this time, instead of using regular ice cubes, I’m replacing the regular ice cubes with frozen strawberries. We’re going to start out with one cup of almond milk, and here’s the link, I show you how to make almond milk, it’s very simple. Pour this beautiful, luscious, snowy white liquid into the VitaMix. One cup, the measure is right on the container, and that’s how we’re going to start.

Then squeeze the juice of one lime right into the VitaMix. We just want this to brighten it up a little bit; and with the strawberries and the dates and the almond milk and the vanilla, it’s really delicious. Add 3 medjool dates, make sure you remove the pits from them. Where else can you get sugar with fiber in it? One teaspoon of vanilla, let’s give it a little splash. That’ll do it. And one cup of frozen strawberries. This is 8 strawberries, 6 is probably a cup. If you don’t have them, you can use regular ice cubes and you’ll have a limeade slushie. It’s delicious either way. Look at those beautiful strawberries, in they go.

Gorgeous

There we have it – Strawberry Cream Limeade. It is gorgeous, look at that. I can already get the aroma of that brightness from the lime juice in there. Of course, we need a garnish. Isn’t it beautiful? I love these colors together. You have to make this. It is creamy, lightly strawberry, dash of lime, just sweet enough but not too sweet, cold from the ice cubes, mellow from the vanilla… and I make so many smoothies, there are so many combinations to try, and if greenerpastures1000 hadn’t written in with those few words, “maybe some limes, too?” I don’t know if this would have come together. I just threw the strawberries in at the last minute. I was going to make regular limeade slushie, but then I thought, that’s what frozen strawberries are, ice cubes.

I made this smoothie today and both my husband and I LOVED it! Almond milk (my absolute favourite!), strawberries (very much in season right now in London – the tennis starts in Wimbledon on Monday), medjool dates (divine!), vanilla extract (Mmmmmm…) and to top it all, refreshing lime juice … What more can one ask for in a smoothie? Absolutely delicious and kept me satisfied until lunch.

      Hi Toni,
Thank you for your review of this smoothie – I feel the same way, I can’t get enough of it.
Are you going to Wimbledon or watching on tv?
      Jane

  10. Toni says:

Hi Jane, I prefer watching the tennis on TV rather than having to deal with the crowds and the queues! But the thing I love most about this time of the year in London is the abundance of strawberries in the shops … and they’re not too expensive either. I’m having my fill of strawberry smoothies whilst I can :)

  11. Jane says:

    Hi Toni,
Have some strawberries and watch some tennis for me!
You are smart to take advantage of seasonal fruit.
    Match point!

  12. Maria says:

    HI Jane,

Where can I find medjool dates? I can only find Sunsweet California pitted dates in my local grocery store. Is there a difference?

    Thanks,
    Maria

  13. Jane says:

    Hi Maria,

Medjool dates can be found at Costco, Whole Foods, local markets and of course on the internet. But you can substitute other dates. The thing about Medjools is they are larger, sweeter and moister than the other varieties. If I couldn’t use Medool dates, I would use other varieties and I have. They all have different subtleties in the flavor, texture and moisture.
That’s okay. Get what you can. When soaking dates, many of the subtleties like denseness and moisture content will not be that important.
Use what you can find. Once you are more aware of dates, you’ll begin finding them in stores where you haven’t noticed them before and they become more common to you and easier to find.

    Keep me posted!
    Jane

    Hi Jane.

WAUW – I just tried this (with my brandnew VitaMix i might add) – and it is fantastic!! I used lemon, because i didn´t have any limes, and also used NOG instead of just the dates.
It was SO good, and I feel really full and satisfied from it.
I have only had my VitaMix for 24 hours, but it has already made 10 different dishes – icecream, smoothies, soup, almond milk…. it´s fantastic. :)

I made one of these of Saturday. It was one of the best things I ever tasted. I would have made another one right away, but I was out of strawberries. Sunday I went out to get some more. Store did not have the frozen kind so I got the raw fresh one and froze them. Just made another one today.I think it is even better than the first.

    Thanks

    • Jane says:

      Hi Victor,

    Cheers :-)

      Hi Helen,
Welcome and thank you for your kind words and support. I appreciate it. I live in a climate with long, hot summers, too, which inspire the blends :)
      Keep cool.
