Hi, I’m Jane from http://www.BlenditandMendit.com where I show you how I turned my VitaMix blender into my #1 anti aging tool. Welcome.

Today I am making my Anti Aging Grandest Grapefruit Green Smoothie and it is a cleaner. Cleans my thoughts, cleans my heart, cleans my mind, cleans my energy, cleans my mood, cleans my breath. I just love it and I’m excited to share it with you and I hope you will make it.

All that’s required, once again with the Keep It Simple, Smoothie theory, is peeled grapefruit and I peeled all the skin and pith off of it, too, I’m showing you how I do that, and what you end up with are the gorgeous inner sections, the meat of the grapefruit, it’s delicious and has a beautiful and cleansing aroma to it and makes a fabulous base for a green smoothie.

You’ll get about 2 cups out of a large grapefruit, so I encourage you to peel it up and put it into your blender. And then I’m adding a combination of parsley and mint, a big handful. I’m using the Italian flat leaf parsley, both the mint and parsley are organic. They are aromatic and help to cleanse our breath.

And I find they cleanse my moods, I’m always in a fantastic, light and airy mood when I drink this, my Grandest Grapefruit Green Smoothie. You can add some optional ice if you like, I like to do that.

Grapefruit, mint, parsley, ice. Let’s blend it up and see how grand it is. (Blending for approx 20 seconds.)

There’s so much wonderful water in the grapefruit, it blends up so quickly and easily. This is a good smoothie that a regular blender can handle if you don’t have a VitaMix.

Pour this into a beautiful glass. It’s smooth, creamy, frothy, minty green. There’s one glass, hold on, I’ll show you how much you can get out of one grapefruit and a handful of herbs. Here’s another glass full and the rest I usually drink right out of the blender.

Look at that. Salud. Mmm, I do feel light and airy when I drink this, I feel energized, encouraged, enthusiastic, capable. Mmm.

If you have a dream, you’re working on a dream, and you want to put one foot in front of the other to get there, and sometimes it’s difficult, drink my Grandest Grapefruit Green Smoothie. It will help you.

I had a gastric bypass a year and 1/2 ago. I wish I would’ve learned about the raw movement before I altered my body but I didn’t so I must move forward. I have lost 110 pounds and I’m 25 lbs away from my goal so all is not bad. As you probably know my body doesn’t absorb nutrients the same anymore and I have to take many vitamins and lots of iron (bypass patients seem to always be low on iron) everyday and for the rest of my life. I am a newby at the green smoothie life style and I love it. Is there a recipe that would be good for people who have undergone this procedure? I love what you’re doing and you keep me motivated to be a better me!
    Thanks,
    LaDonna Pitts

      Hi LaDonna,

I feel out of my element in recommending a particular smoothie to you in light of your surgery. I am not a doctor.

But I do have a friend who is an R.N. and works in the gastric bypass section of the hospital with the patients. The next time I see him, he just left for 3 weeks vacation, I will bring the subject up and see what he might recommend. Of course, if you are under a physician’s care due to your surgery, you’ll have to run it by him/her and make sure it’s okay, since your absorption is compromised.

You have the right attitude and that’s the key. I can create a green smoothie for you that is high in iron. It’s on the list!
      :)

      Jane

  12. [..YouTube..] Hey jane. I am going to make this smoothie soon, but is it ok if I leave out the mint, as I can’t find it in any store

  13. [..YouTube..] @ZaraaIsDeadly Yes, you can leave out the mint – use my recipes as a jumping off point and make them to suit you :)
