My VitaMix Anti Aging Dilly Slaw is a Jenny Cornbleet recipe. Simple and delicious. Debbie and Camille wrote in and asked for something unblended, so here it is. I’ve been wanting to try this recipe and their emails gave me a reason to make it.

Watch my video and see how easy it is! Yes, the Sweet Tahini Mayonnaise is blended, but the slaw is shredded cabbage. Cabbage has anti-cancer compounds in it. Make this Dilly Slaw, silly, and let me know what you think about it :)

Silly

Today I am making Jenny Cornbleet’s Dilly Slaw. I’ve been wanting to make this. I’m making it for the first time today, and I’m making it because Debbie and Camille wrote in, separately I might add, and both asked for something not blended. So this is what I made. Hi Debbie! Hi Camille!

Start by shredding or thinly slicing 1 1/2 cups of cabbage. I’m using some purple and some green cabbage just to mix it up because I love the color combinations so much. Then we’re going to add 1/4 cup of Sweet Tahini Mayonnaise. I’m going to show you how to make that, it is also one of Jenny Cornbleet’s recipes.

Dilly

All you need for Sweet Tahini Mayonnaise is 1/2 cup of tahini and I’m using some of my homemade tahini that I made with raw sesame seeds. 2 TBS of fresh lemon juice, fresh and citrus-y. Then Jenny’s recipe calls for 1 TBS of light agave syrup. I’m not an agave nectar fan, so instead I used 1 TBS of the soak water from my Nectar Of The Gods Sweetener; only this is really, since I didn’t have a coconut, some dates, soaked with water to cover, and then it makes this wonderful syrup and I put a TBS of that into the recipe. It’s fantastic. And I love the fiber and flavor of Medjool dates. And then 1/4 tsp of salt. Put it into the blender, blend it up, and you’ve come up with this creamy, delicious, slightly swet tahini sauce that is reminiscent of mayonnaise.

Pour 1/4 cup of your Sweet Tahini Mayonnaise over your bowl that has the 1 1/2 cups of shredded cabbage in it. Mince up 1 TBS of fresh dill weed… Mmm… the aromas. Sprinkle that on top of your bowl, toss and your good to go. I started combining it with a fork but I just had to get my hands in there to do the proper job. So this is what we have, gorgeous in color, gorgeous in aroma, and now I’m going to taste it for the first time.

Slaw

From wholefoods.org I learned this about cabbage: in one recent study, short cooked and raw cabbage were the only type of cabbage to show cancer preventive benefits. First of all, I love the chew factor. We must chew raw, crunchy vegetables, in this case cabbage, it helps to make our teeth and our jaws strong… chew our food… and then, the sauce is a little bit tahini-y, a little bit tangy and a little bit dill-y, and it’s so creamy. If you want to make this a little wetter, pour a little extra sauce on it, that’s all I would change. Enjoy this slaw, Debbie and Camille, make it please, and let me know what you think of it. I’m planning on making more of Jenny Cornbleet’s recipes. They’re good.

Her Jumble Berry Upside Down Cake – - – I simply slice & sweeten the strawberries and make her crumble and put over the top, keeping them separate in the fridge. 10. [..YouTube..] @4007fairview Hi Debbie,i checked out the Jumble Cake, it sounds fab. I could make waterful food videos all day long as it’s so much fun! As for my food and what I eat and how I have evolved, while there’s more to it, what it boils down to is – i get my greens and don’t stress the rest.:)Jane

  11. [..YouTube..] @Boomhilda You’re welcome! I loved every bite of it, especially after I put more of the Sweet Tahini Sauce on it, it’s so good I am definitely going to be using it as a regular salad dressing, too, not just for the slaw.:)Jane

  12. hyphymarky26 says:

[..YouTube..] Is there a reason why you don’t like agave?

  13. [..YouTube..] @hyphymarky26 I’m not taking a stand on agave nectar and being for or against it, it’s just a substance. But my conclusion after tasting, using, experiencing and researching the pros and cons of agave nectar is that it’s the high fructose corn syrup of natural foods. That doesn’t mean I go running and screaming if it’s being served up to me in a meal, it just means I don’t buy and use it. I hope my answer doesn’t upset anyone. I come in peace.Jane
