VitaMix AntiAging Coconut Creme Smoothie
Beauty
Today I am making my Anti-Aging Coconut Creme Smoothie. And I want to show you the beauty of a single ingredient. This is the young Thai coconut, so called because it’s different from the mature coconut. I’m using the meat and coconut water from one of these coconuts and I’m showing you how to open it, also.
The first thing you need to do is open the coconut, and it only requires a knife and a mallet. And I want to show you how easy it is. First of all, shave off some of the husk off the top of the pointed end. Takes maybe 6 or 7 shaves. Very easy to do. Then, to make a stable base, just shave off one side so you can lay the coconut down and then it’s firm and it’s not rolling around. So put the point of your knife up against the coconut, take your mallet, and pound it in 4 or 5 times. Turn the coconut upright. And since that wood is on a circular grain, twist your knife and the coconut top begins to lift off. See?
And look what you have. Electrolyte filled, sterile, naturally purified coconut water. Always take a spoon and taste the coconut water before you use it. You want to make sure it’s good. And this coconut water is, you can taste that it’s good. Another way to tell is if you see any kind of green tinge, or pink tinge, then you want to discard it, so save your receipt and you can always return these where you bought them. So now we have a good coconut, it’s opened, the water tastes delicious. Pour it into the VitaMix.
Whip It
I pour mine through a strainer just to make sure there’s no fibers in it. Then we’re going to scrape out the meat. See, this meat is not fully mature, so it’s soft and tender and flexible, it peels right off the top. And then you just take a spoon, I use the back of the spoon to get between the meat and the rim and then I just scrape out the meat. You can see how I’m doing it here. Put all the meat from that young coconut and all the water into the VitaMix. And then don’t throw this out, because you can save your coconuts and use them for many purposes around the house. They dry up, they are made of wood, so you can make candle holders out of them, you can put all kinds of things in them.
So, now we’ve got the coconut water and the coconut in the VitaMix. And all I want you to add to it now is a couple of cups of ice. And this is what we’re going to blend up. Smells luscious. Wish you could be here to smell this. Look at this. Pure white. Pure as the driven snow. Look at that. See, this is your basic Coconut Creme Smoothie.
There are many things you can add to this, but I wanted to start with a basic recipe to show you how easy it is to make. Ah, creamy. Mildly coconutty. Delicious. It’s almost like vanilla ice cream. or ice cream… coconut ice cream. It tastes like coconut ice cream. That’s what it tastes like. I hope you will make my Coconut Creme Smoothie, leave your comments below and let me know what you think of it. Just the water and the meat from one young coconut, couple cups of ice, whip it up, you’re ready to go, anti-aging in every way. Simple, easy, fun, makes you feel good, makes you feel young.

[..YouTube..] Yummy! I love coconuts. Thanks for sharing.
[..YouTube..] @BodyTalk2010 You’re welcome. This is one of the simplest, most delicious, nutritious delights ever!Jane
[..YouTube..] I really enjoy your channel, very informative.Looking foward to more….
[..YouTube..] @therawfoodfuture Thank you! Did you try the Coconut Creme Smoothie?Jane
[..YouTube..] I bought my first coconut after watching you video, I got it from a large grocery store and it was the mature type (the only kind I could find). when I opened one of the eyes with a knife a small bit of gas escaped and a little bit of fizz. I tried the coconut water and I literally gagged, it was sour and not appealing at all. Did I buy a rancid coconut? I havent opened the rest of the coconut yet to see it because I might return it to the store. the milk was also cloudy, is this normal?
[..YouTube..] @zoozoobugz None of that is normal. Return it and get your money back. On a mature coconut, check the eyes, make sure there are no black dots or black discoloration on them. Watch my video HOW TO OPEN A MATURE COCONUT as I also explain what to look for and how to check for freshness. Let me know how you do.Jane
[..YouTube..] Jane, so i cant make it coconuts smoothies from mature coconut? Thanks.
[..YouTube..] @2011Queenn Yes, you can make coconut smoothies from mature coconuts, just like I did in this video, and then you can change it up how you want.Jane
[..YouTube..] I just read something disturbing about young Thai coconuts, that they are soaked in formaldehyde and chemicals, see gone raw forum young Thai coconuts danger. Has anyone researched this?
[..YouTube..] @dfrisable Yes, I have read that, too. Thank you! I have also read that the chemicals don’t get through to the water and the meat because of the wooden coconut shell. I have gone through times of not consuming them because of the former and go through times of not being able to get enough of them because of the latter. I have decided to eat them when I want to and not worry about the chemicals because I truly don’t know which info is correct. I do best I can & keep an eye out for organic
[..YouTube..] well I checked into the young Thai coconut. I called Mellssa’s where Wegmans in our area purchases the coconuts. They do not use formaldehyde, supposedly no one that sends coconuts into the USA can. What they do use is sodium metabisulfite. This is so they do not turn moldy. Also they shave them for the same reason. Sodium metabisulfite has it’s own dangers, what doesn’t, but it is approved by the USDA. So I feel better about eating them.
[..YouTube..] @dfrisable Thank you for news we can use. That clears up confusion. It’s an imperfect world and we are all imperfect in it. All we can do is the best we can and keep moving forward
Jane
[..YouTube..] Jane – I haven’t found any of your videos showing what you do with the young coconut meat, which is quite different from mature coconut. Please pass on some ideas. I froze mine for now. Besides smoothies, can I made a little bit of milk from it as you did with the mature coconut?
[..YouTube..] @lindapnj55 Hi Linda,My VitaMix Anti-Aging Coconut Creme smoothie shows the beauty and simplicity of a single ingredient – the meat and water from one young coconut – it is divine. On BIMI you can find it in RECIPE TAB>GREEN SMOOTHIES>ELIXIRS or SHAKES category. Also the Feathery Fennel Salad contains young coco meat. You can also slice it into thin noodles. I eat it as-is, too, fresh from the shell. Search BIMI or my YT channel for coconut/coconut water and other recipes will pop up.
[..YouTube..] @blenditandMendit ahh… great thanks, that does look refreshing. I already used the water for a new batch of NOG, but I’ll try that next time and just munch on the meat from this one or add it to another smoothie.
I just opened my first young coconut. It was a breeze thanks to you! To the coconut water and the meat, I added a fresh mango, about 5 frozen pineapple chunks(I buy a whole pineapple and cut it up to have on hand in freezer), and a big handful of power greens I got at whole foods. It is heaven! All I am missing is the island and the ocean!
Just opened our first young coconut. The water has a slight yellow tinge to it, but the coconut meat is white. Is this ok to use, or should I throw it out? I’ve had it sitting on the counter for a week because I didn’t have time to mess with it, so I’m thinking the store wouldn’t offer a replacement if I took it back.
Hi Rebecca,
First, smell the coconut water. If you are still unsure, take a small taste. If you are still unsure, don’t consume it.
Did you taste the coconut meat? Is it good? Usually if the meat is good, the water is good, but don’t take any chances.
Jane
It tastes good to me. I haven’t had it before, but I have had a mature coconut. The taste of the young seems more mild. Thanks for your quick reply.
Hi Jane: I must say you make opening a coconut look easy.. I am trying to open mine and my knife is stuck inside. I obviously did something wrong or maybe it isn’t ripe. anyhow, I found my luck so funny I had to share! Happy Coconut opening everyone!
PS: I have no trouble opening the mature coconuts.
Just don’t hurt yourself!
Hi Jan,
How long will a young coconut last in the refrigator.I purchase mine last week.
Hi Hazek,
That depends on how fresh, or not, it was when you purchased it. I would open it and see if it’s still good. If not, discard. If so, enjoy!
Hi Jane,
I just made the coconut creme smoothie & it was GREAT!!! I tasted prepackaged coconut water before but I did not like it. However when I saw your video you made it look so good that I decided to give it a try and I found that I like fresh coconut water. Thanks you so much!
Hi Roslyn,
You’re welcome! Glad you tried this smoothie and liked it. Now that you’ve tried fresh coconut water, there are many other blends you’re going to enjoy.
