Oops- in this video I say I have been drinking green smoothies for 5 years – that’s wrong. I have been drinking green smoothies for 4 years. Thanks! Jane. (It is now January 2012 and I have passed the 5 year mark – love the journey.)

My VitaMix Anti Aging Buttered Banana Green Smoothie is so mild and sweet, a baby would love it.

I put the entire head of delicate, mild butter lettuce into the VitaMix, add 2 dates, 2 ripe bananas and 1 cup of water. So simple and easy.

It’s delicious, nutrient dense and a great habit to adopt. Do you want to be in a good mood all day? Drink your greens.

The Whole Head

Today I am making my Anti-Aging Buttered Banana Green Smoothie. It has an entire bunch of Butter lettuce in it. This is very tender, very mild, mmm, delicious lettuce. This is a beautiful head of organic Butter lettuce I just purchased a little while ago, brought it home, washed it and now we’re gonna eat it. Put the entire bunch of lettuce into your VitaMix. It’s easy. Look – this, and this. Look at that. You’re going to consume, with this green smoothie, an entire head of lettuce. The chlorophyll, the oxygen, the energy that this will release in your body. We don’t have to “get” energy from anything. We have it, we just have to release it.

Then, I want you to take 2 Medjool dates, perhaps you have soaked them in coconut water and made my Nectar of the Gods Sweetener, perhaps you haven’t. Perhaps you haven’t even soaked them at all. Even if they’re just soaked in water, take a couple of Medjool dates… I don’t know if you can see these, they’re beautiful and tender and sweet. I’m putting a little of the soaking water in there. Add that to your Buttered Banana Green Smoothie.

Then take 2 ripe bananas, be sure they have the brown sugar spots on them so that the starch in the banana has converted to sugar and that way they’re at the peak of their ripeness, nutrition and flavor. That is a sweet, good, full of potassium, full of fiber, full of energy banana. Peel a couple, break them into a few pieces and put them in your VitaMix. You have the lettuce, a couple of dates and 2 ripe bananas. If you need more than 2 ripe bananas, go ahead and add them. Remember, this is your Buttered Banana Green Smoothie.

And I have a cup of water, I don’t know if I’m gonna add it all.. yeah, that looks good. Add a cup of water to it. Okay, our Buttered Banana Green Smoothie is ready. How simple and easy is that? And when I was looking at my… mmm… even a baby, an infant would love this, it’s so mild and sweet. It would be a great baby food.

Positivity And Cheer

So, I was thinking about all of the benefits I have received from green smoothies. Of course, the simple, easy, no pot scrubbing part is a no brainer. But what about the positivity and cheer I now experience? The energy that has been released? That allows me to move forward in what I want to do in life? Mmm… mmm… that is so delicious. It’s refreshing. It will nourish you. It’s nutrient dense food. If you want to be in a good mood and achieve your dreams, drink your greens.

I have 4 pages of benefits that I’m gonna roll out one at a time, I can’t do them all at once. But that, I would have to say… the positivity and cheer that I now experience, that’s ongoing… yeah, life is not perfect, life is not up here all the time, but it’s more up here than it is down there and I just am so grateful for that. Also, the way my energy has been released. Wouldn’t be talking to you right now if it hadn’t been for 4 years of green smoothies.

  5. [..YouTube..] @angieliddiard Hi Angie,Yes, I love Penni at Raw Food Rehab, she is a wonder woman and it’s a great community. I want to join but I haven’t as I just have no time to become involved in a meaningful way and I don’t want to just register and then disappear, that’s no fun. There are just so many hours in the day. But it’s definitely on my radar and I cruise it now and again for inspiration and because it’s visually such a beautiful site. I guess I could join and still do that…. Jane

[..YouTube..] do you have to soak the dates?

  7. [..YouTube..] @MoniMeka You don’t have to, but I do. That way they get all caramel-ly and are fabulous. Check out my NOG video: Nectar of the Gods Sweetener. It’s dates soaked in coconut water. Methinks you will like NOG.Jane

Made this today as I was looking for a green smoothie that was a little on the “light” side. This fit the bill perfectly! This is my first week incorporating green smoothies into my regular diet. I’ve already experienced some not so pleasant side effects but I will stick with it in hopes to heal some of my ongoing issue’s. I have to add that my 2.5yo son stole my second glass and drank half of it! He said “yummy”! :)

      Hi Jackie,
Highest praise is when the kids like a green smoothie :)
Glad you enjoyed it. Sip green smoothies slowly and ‘chew’ them for best digestive results.
