Hi, I’m Jane from http://www.BlenditandMendit.com where I showcase my anti aging elixirs and recipes. Welcome.
Today I am making my Anti Aging Rebecca Smoothie. This smoothie comes straight to me from Rebecca in Alaska who submitted it to me and I’m going to make it for the first time right now. I haven’t tried it yet.
So, this is what Rebecca puts in her green smoothie. A half of a cantaloupe, with the seeds. Now, I’ve never done that. I’ve never put the seeds in before. They’re not poisonous so you can eat them. I’ve got a nice, ripe cantaloupe here, I’m just going to scoop it all out and put it right into the VitaMix blender, always put your juicy fruits in first, it just helps get the blending going.
And then, there’s something else that Rebecca does with her smoothies that I’ve never done before, either. So, this is going to be a great experiment for both of us and I’m really looking forward to it.
Mmm, that cantaloupe is juicy, it smells terrific, it’s a gorgeous color, it has all the elements I like and we’re going to compost the rind. Then she adds 2 kiwi fruit with the skin. I’ve never done that, I’m always looking at the skin and going, I know I get plenty of fiber, why do I need the fiber from the skin of a kiwi?
But I know alot of people eat their kiwi with the skin on and it is edible, maybe I should trim the ends off a little, I haven’t done that. Look at the color, talk about phytonutrients, look at the orange, look at the green, here goes kiwi one and kiwi two with their skins.
Then Rebecca adds a large handful of cilantro. I’m going to add an extra large handful of cilantro, you know how I am, as long as I’ve washed the greens and they’re sitting in front of me why wouldn’t I want to put them all in the blender? But I’m following Rebecca’s recipe so that’s what I’m adding. To me that’s a large handful.
1/2 banana and 2 cubes of ice. And those are the ingredients for the Rebecca from Alaska smoothie. (Blending.)
I think Rebecca’s on to something. Mmm, I taste the cilantro, here’s Rebecca’s exact words that she wrote to me, “Tastes good like a spice in salsa.” Well, salsa’s full of cilantro so I get that. And there is a spice in there, I’ll bet you it’s from those cantaloupe seeds adding a little extra something to this.
It’s a gorgeous color, beautiful texture, okay, Rebecca this is what I’ve got from your recipe, a big glass and a half of the Rebecca smoothie, mmm there’s a spice in there that’s beyond cilantro, well it could be the kiwi skin, could be the unique mixture, it is delicious and it’s new and I enjoy trying new things.
I hope you will all make this green smoothie in your VitaMix and definitely submit your own. Now that Ive tried Rebecca’s recipe I’d like to try yours, send it in.

[..YouTube..] Oh, I must try this one!!
[..YouTube..] @MsNilor It’s a good blend and Rebecca is a wonderful person.:)Jane
[..YouTube..] haha – I never understand why people peel their kiwis. The skin is great! Just give a little wash and eat. I’m thinking that is where most of the fiber is too!!
[..YouTube..] One smoothie that I was drinking pretty much daily for nearly a month was Banana, Spinach, and cocoa powder, blended with water. (And this was in the days before my vitamix). SOOOO Good when you want something sweet and chocolatey!! Very smooth too (and I have yet to try it in my vitamix, so I’m sure it would be like satin!!
[..YouTube..] @NicoletteLynnMusic I use kiwis with and without the peel – just depends on the texture I’m going for.As for fiber, I get so much that I can sacrifice kiwi peel
[..YouTube..] @NicoletteLynnMusic I agree – I have made many combos with banana, choc, dates and vanilla – from chocolate milk to shakes to sorbets and ice creams – oh so good.
