Welcome.

Today I want to share with you my #1 tip for drinking green smoothies long term, and that is: rotate your greens.

Why do we need to rotate our greens? Why can’t I, if I enjoy Romaine, just have a Romaine green smoothie over and over and over again? Or spinach, or parsley?

Because, in these delectable greens, which are life giving, water giving, energy giving, oxygen giving, healing and cleansing, there’s a teeny, tiny little toxin, a little poison in each one called an alkaloid. For instance, there’s arsenic in parsley, opium in Romaine and some oxalic acid in spinach.

But it’s okay, they’re in minute amounts, and as long as you don’t get into a spinach rut or Romaine rut or any 1 or 2 greens rut, then you’ll be fine and your body will easily take care of these things.

That’s my #1 tip. And it’s not difficult to rotate your greens, just this morning at Whole Foods I counted 22 of them and that’s not even counting green vegetables, that’s just counting leafy greens which are a category unto themselves or should be.

And I went across the street to the conventional market and I counted 16 greens, so there’s no reason to get stuck in a rut. Experiment, enjoy and have a wide variety of green smoothies and you will benefit the most from that.

    Hi Jane,

    I accidentally came across your site and am very pleased that i did. Although I have owned a Vita Mix for several years most of that time it lived in the cupboard. With your inspirational help its now time to give it pride of place on the kitchen bench.

    You asked what i most want, (ie when you lauch “Your Personal Anti Aging Protocol”), and i would like to ask for some recipes that relate specifically to Mens health. I am in my late 50′s and although currently in good health would like to continue into my 60′s, 70′s and beyond with the vital health that your recipes promise. Thanks.

  8. [..YouTube..] Jane, I’m guilty of this. I do kale and spinach all the time. I find chard too bitter. Any other suggestions? What type of green non leafy veggies do you recommend that are easy to find and blend well into my breakfast green smoothies? I have been going strong for these past six months since purchasing my beloved vitamix! I even got my mom hooked!

  9. [..YouTube..] @rightjennifer There are many leafy greens available year round. If you find some varieties too bitter, start with one leaf.You can mix parsley, mint or cilantro in and it masks the flavor of strong greens. Also, adding some fresh lemon juice can help balance out bitter greens.Technically, non-leafy greens/vegeys are too starchy for green smoothies, but I sometimes use zucchini in mine and I like to add celery. I have 1-3 green smoothies a day usually.Thanks! <3 your videos!!! I can honestly say the Vita-Mix has changed my life

  19. [..YouTube..] @SharaPhillips01 You are doing it correctly which is moving from one green to another and keep doing that until you have gone through what’s available to you and then start again. There are 20 different greens in my WFoods and 16 at the local market, etc. “How often” is different for everyone depending on what is available, how much you use, etc.
