VitaMix Anti Aging Bok Choy Cheer Green Smoothie

Bok Choy Cheer. Say that fast three times.
All it requires is some fresh squeezed tangerine juice and this I purchased at Trader Joe’s. And I checked to make sure it’s not flash pasteurized, so it has not been heated. Says here, fresh from California, and it’s the best I could do, I don’t have any tangerines handy.
This is delicious juice, so if you can get it, use it. If you can’t get it, use something else like fresh squeezed apple juice or any kind of fruit that you like. We’re going to add 3 cups to the VitaMix blender.
Now, in the spirit of Keep It Simple, Smoothie, and in the spirit of my #1 K.I.S.S. Tip, we are rotating our greens, so I want to introduce you to a new green today. And that is Bok Choy.
Also known as Chinese cabbage, and while it’s technically not a leafy green, it’s more of a green vegetable, I like to use the leafy green end and not the stem for the Bok Choy Cheer.
Just cut off the leaves and put them in the blender. Depending on your tolerance of greens, use one leaf or all of them. The 3 cups of tangerine juice can handle all the greens from one bunch of Bok Choy.
We’re left with the stems, don’t throw them out, we’ll use them for something else, they’re delicious, tasting like a mild cabbage. So, the blender has the tangerine juice in it and the bok choy leaves and we’re going to add a couple of sprigs of mint.
And that’s all there is to it. Let’s see what we’ve got.
The texture of Bok Choy Cheer is more of a juice than a thick smoothie. Let’s pour it into a couple of parfait glasses. Take note of this shade of green. The more you drink your greens and the more smoothies that you make, the more greens that you use, the more you’re aware of all the different shades of green. Each green has different vitamins and minerals in it and that’s one of the reasons we want to rotate our greens.
You don’t want to get stuck in a romaine or spinach or any other greens rut at any time, so we’re venturing out into the Bok Choy area today. Mmm, it is so refreshing, the tangerine juice takes over and I don’t even taste the Bok Choy.
Bok Choy on its own has a very light peppery cabbage-y taste to it, but you can’t taste it at all in here, it’s completely masked by the mint and the tangerine juice. In this you are getting your calcium and your iron, your Vitamins A, C, D and your folate, a high water content food.
So, say at 4pm when you feel like you need a pick-me-up, you can have this and you won’t have to pass out on the couch when you’re done because you’re not using all your energy digesting it. This requires no energy to digest.

[..YouTube..] why do you leave out the white part of the bok choy? I usually use the whole thing (but usually use the baby bok choy). I find it fairly strong and bitter, so I only use a little bit when using it.
