The Chuckster Green Smoothie
Welcome. Today I am making The Chuckster. This blend was sent in by fortgreene31, who wrote in and said, “Honeydew and strawberrry and some mint leaves and some spinach and a couple of almond milk ice cubes. Call this The Chuckster.”
Ripe Fruit
Well, I finally got around to making it, it’s summer and the ingredients sound so refreshing. It’s so simple and I made a 2 cup portion for you. I know I’m usually making a blender full, and I hear from some of you “But I can’t drink all that.” Well, now you can. Start off with a ripe honeydew melon. Smell it. Does it smell like a honeydew? Press on the ends, are they a little bit soft? Does it have that glossy, yellow color to it? Even a regular honeydew has a golden cast to it when it’s ripe. If you don’t have ripe fruit, your blends are not going to be delicious or nutritious.
60% Fruit 40% Greens
fortgreene31 didn’t send any proportions, but that’s okay with me, because I’m always throwing my blends together and I can work with this and I want you to be able to work with it, too. If you ever have any question about your proportions of fruit to greens in a green smoothie, remember 60% ripe, organic fruit and 40% greens. Or 2/3, 1/3, make the blends so you enjoy them.
I’m adding 3 frozen strawberries, because that’s what I have in my freezer, a couple of sprigs of mint leaves; mint is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, it freshens your breath… and a handful of spinach. Spinach is a mild tasting green. Some of you aren’t ready to go to kale, some of you are, you can put any green you want in here, but The Chuckster calls for spinach so that’s how I’m making it. And a couple of almond milk ice cubes. If you want to know how to make almond milk, watch my video, I show you how to do it.
Almond Milk Ice Cubes
Then just pour some into an ice cube tray and when you want to make a vegan ice cream or when you need a couple for a blend like this, they’re ready to go. Isn’t that pretty? Now, we have to taste it. This is my favorite part of getting the viewer submitted smoothies, so keep them coming. I enjoy all the new blends. We all need, including me, new blends to stay in the green smoothie game long term. Rotate your greens, you’ll get a wide variety of nutrients and tastes, you’ll feel good… The Chuckster is a good one… the mint bursts, the honeydew’s sweet, the strawberries are like an envelope for everything, the almond milk ice cubes make it creamy.
Eat Your Water
And the mint garnish is not a garnish to be tossed away. This is a garnish to eat. Get used to eating your water. The water’s in the greens and the fruit; naturally purifed and structured water really hydrate us. I so enjoy my green smoothies, this is an excellent blend, The Chuckster.
