Hi, I’m Jane from blenditandmendit.com. Welcome. Today I am making Pineapple Cilantro Beauty Water. “Hi, Janis!” Janis wrote in and suggested this blend.

K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Smoothie

I’m starting with 6 cups of water. You don’t have to make this much if you don’t want to. I make enough to last all day. You can sip on it, put it in different glasses, put it in the fridge, put it in a thermos, take it to work, take it to work out. It’s all good, just keep it cold.

Then all you have to add to it is 1 cup of fresh pineapple. How do you cut a pineapple safely, swiftly and easily? Watch this video that I made and I’ll show you how to do that. When you’re in the market and you’re looking at the pineapple, smell them. If it doesn’t smell like a pineapple, or hint that it’s going to smell like a pineapple, get a different one. You can also try pulling one of the leaves out of the crown and if it removes easily, that’s also a sign of ripeness. Sometimes, they’re not always golden and sometimes thay’re not always soft. This one smells ready to go.

It Doesn’t Take Long

So I’m going to add one cup of fresh pineapple to this Beauty Water. You don’t have to add that much, you can add half of a cup, but it smells so good, its so fresh, I want it. And a handful of fresh cilantro. Before I started drinking my greens, about 6 years ago, I used to think that cilantro tasted like soap. Not anymore. I crave cilantro. Now this is a large handful, you can add a small handful if you want, but when it’s in front of me like this, I have to add more.

And there you have this gorgeous blender. That blended for about 30-45 seconds, it doesn’t take long. Color first.. isn’t that beautiful? The aroma is bursting out of the blender. I smell the cilantro. I smell the pineapple. I’m going to pour it into a big mug. Can’t help but get happy when I am pouring Beauty Water and green smoothies. Look at that. Look what you get today… There’s enough to pour three glasses and put them in the fridge, I don’t even cover them. Or fill up a couple of thermos’s and take them to work, take them out with you. .. this will help to kill your cravings.

I can’t wait to try this! I get a whole case of pineapple this Saturday with my Bountiful Basket and I LOVE cilantro. I love snacking and nibbling through the day so sipping would be excellent. We’ve had our Vitamix for only two weeks now and it may have already paid for itself. I ate, or should I say drank, beets for the first time with carrots, lemon, blueberries and kale for breakfast and a touch of organic sugar as I get used to the earthy tastes. I’m going to enjoy your website!

      Hi Erin,
      Your enthusiasm is contagious!
Thank you for your kind words and support. I appreciate it.
I wish you as much fun and wellbeing from your VitaMix as I get from mine.
      Keep me posted.
      Jane

I can’t wait to try this. They didn’t have pineapple at the store today so I’ll have to wait until next time. I recently learned that cilantro helps flush out heavy metals from the body so even though I don’t like it, I’m going to start having it on a regular basis. It will be interesting to see if I start to like the flavor of it. Today I’m having grapefruit, cucumber, cilantro and spinach.

      Hi Sharon,
I, too, used to not like cilantro, but since drinking my greens I now crave it. I put whole bunches in green smoothies, salsas, green juices, green puddings, green soups, so good. let me know if you begin to enjoy cilantro, the happy herb.

Hi Jane! I love your site! I’m a newbie and am straggling sometimes – like right now :( I just made your pineapple cilantro beauty water. I don’t have cilantro so I used parsley. I really don’t like it. I made it twice thinking I put too much parsley, but it’s the same In fact, it’s burning my mouth! I know I did it right; so I guess I won’t. make it again. I even put Stevia in it but I couldn’t even taste it. The other smoothies I’ve made from your site are really delicious! I got my Vitamix on Tuesday but have been making smoothies since last Sat. I am having fun!

          Hi Ann,

You say “it’s burning my mouth” sometimes that happens to me with unripe pineapple being acidic. It sounds to me as if the pineapple wasn’t ripe. Was it fresh pineapple?

If it was frozen pineapple, I’m not sure what the problem is, other than that this combo didn’t suit you. That happens. To this day, I don’t use mustard greens in my smoothies, as I don’t like them and they don’t like me.

When I was a newbie, I certainly made my share of stinkers – just pour the stinkers in the bushes – instant compost. You also mention you are having fun, which is key for staying in the green smoothie game long term.

Also, being a newbie, it could be you are just not acclimated to the taste of fresh greens – go easy with them and build up slowly, always remembering to rotate your greens. Don’t get stuck in a rut of using the same few greens over and over. It’s a journey – in the meantime, I wish you as much wellbeing from your new VitaMix as I get from mine.

And thank you for the kind words and support. I appreciate it.

Thank you for replying so fast. I forgot to mention that I put one tsp. of flax seed in there. Have you ever heard of anyone being allergic to it?

  4. Ann says:

Oh, about the pineapple – it was actually quite ripe. I had to cut some off because it was kind of over ripe. I ate a couple of pieces and it was quite sweet and delicious.

    • Jane says:

I’ve never heard of anyone being allergic to flax seeds, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Just take it easy and keep your green smoothies simple (greens, fruit, water) until you figure it out.
