Maria’s First Green Smoothie
Today I am making a green smoothie blend that was sent in to me by Maria. “Hi, Maria, how are you?” I’m glad you sent me your blend.
Firsts
Maria writes, “I wanted to try out making my own recipe and I was glad with the result and I wanted to share it with you.”
Congratulations, Maria, on taking action and drinking your greens. That’s the important part.
Maria’s smoothie starts with 1-2 cups of water depending on how thick you want it to be. I added one cup of water. And Maria added 1.5 teaspoons of raw organic blue agave nectar. I’m not an agave nectar fan, so I added a couple of dates for sweetener. Remember to take the pits and the little caps off of them.
An Orange, Peeled
You can throw the whole thing in there if it’s a navel orange, there are no seeds in there. If it’s another variety of orange, remove the seeds.
One pear. I used an Asian pear because that’s what I could find in my local store and that’s what was ripe. Use any variety of pear that you like, just make sure that it’s ripe. And two cups of spinach. I put a huge handful of spinach in there. Maybe a small handful equals a cup. Go ahead and load it up with however much spinach you want, but Maria’s recipe calls for two cups.
Gorgeous Green
And here is Maria’s blend. Look at that. I think for a first go at it, Maria, you did pretty good. Let’s see. Ooh, that orange is right there at the top of the flavor profile. Wonderful. And that delicate sweetness from the pear… very good, Maria.
I don’t even taste the spinach. Love the color of a green smoothie, that’s what it’s all about, a way to get our greens… a key ingredient that most of us are missing. Delicious. Thank you for sending it in.

I am teaching my parents how to make green smoothies. This will be a great first recipe for them. Super simple and I know it is delicious.
Thanks Maria & Jane.
