Kathleen’s Cardamom Green Smoothie
Hi, I’m Jane from BlenditandMendit.com. Welcome. Today I am making a blend that was sent in to me from Kathleen. “Hi, Kathleen, how are you doing?”
Kathleen wrote in and said, “Hi Jane, I wanted to pass on this recipe for a green smoothie that I just made. It was one of those ‘what can I make today with what I already have in the fridge’ kind of smoothies. And it tasted really good, even though I’m not a fan of spinach.”
Taking Action
So, Kathleen made a green smoothie with spinach in it and it came out great. Congratulations, Kathleen, for taking action and drinking your greens. Kathleen says to blend together one banana, and in this case I used frozen, you don’t have to, you can use an unfrozen banana, just make sure it’s ripe and that the peel has the brown sugar spots on it. Two nectarines, make sure they’re ripe. Always make sure your fruit is ripe when you use it, so you get good results, flavor-wise and nutrition-wise.
Exotic Cardamom
The seeds of 3 cardamom pods; I didn’t have the pods but I do have some ground cardamom. Wasn’t sure how that transferred, so I used 1/2 teaspoon. It smells so exotic. A large handful of spinach, no problem there, Kathleen. I like to stuff the green smoothies with lots of greens. The juice of one half lime and a big splash of water.
“Thanks for all of your wonderful recipes, Jane. Kind Regards from Kathleen in the U.K.”
The texture of this smoothie is so elegant, it’s so smooth and I can just taste a little bit of the cardamom and the lime. Then there’s a little sweetness from the nectarines. I can’t even taste the spinach but I love knowing it’s in there. Thank you for watching my videos. I really appreciate your support.
