Iceberg Lettuce Green Smoothie
Welcome. Today, I want to show you how to make an Iceberg lettuce green smoothie. I did a little investigating and Iceberg lettuce is not devoid of nutrition. All my life I’ve been hearing, “Pass it up for the deep, dark greens.” You don’t have to do that. You can go to nutritiondata.com, it’s one of my favorite websites, and you can find out that Iceberg lettuce has amino acids, vitamins, minerals, it’s good stuff. So, I want you to use it in your green smoothies.
Don’t Pass It Up
And this is a really simple green smoothie. All you have to do is put about 1/2 head of lettuce into your Vitamix. If you don’t have a VitaMix, that’s okay. Use the blender you have, reduce the quantities, you may have to add a little bit of water, but get your greens. Don’t pass up the green goodness.
Then add one cucumber, or 1/2 of the long, English cucumbers. I cut mine up into a few pieces and put it right into the blender. And then a tomato. Just one tomato, any variety. I happen to have this beautiful, golden yellow tomato, so gorgeous. But you can add Roma tomatoes, which are usually the least expensive. So say you want to buy organic and you’re going to be blending… buy organic Roma / plum tomatoes, and you won’t have to spend so much money since you’re blending them up anyway.
The Colors
If you can’t get organic, don’t worry about it, just get started with what you have. Start blending and getting your greens; you’ll work the organic into your life as you can. One of the beautiful things about drinking my greens is all the varieties and the different hues of the color green. I just enjoy the colors so much. And this tastes so mild… let’s say you’re a beginner, maybe even for your kids, you can put some Iceberg lettuce into your blender with some fruit and have a wonderful smoothie, really nutritious.
This is almost sweet. It’s so mild. I really think you’re going to enjoy this. And it’s nice to have another green to add into your rotation. Think 7 different greens in 7 days. Shoot for that and that’ll keep you looking for new greens, it’ll keep the greens in the forefront of your mind and when you’re at the supermarket or you’re somewhere and you look at the greens and you go, “What is that?” Buy some, put a little into a green smoothe and check it out. Test it and see.
Thank You

Hi Jane,
Can you add fruit to this smoothie?
Hi James,
I take it you mean sweeter fruit than tomatoes and cucumbers, which are non-sweet fruits. Yes, go ahead and make it any way you want.
Ripe pears go well with iceberg lettuce or apples, melons, tropical fruits, berries… let me know what you come up with.
