Today I want to show you how to make apple juice in the VitaMix blender. Sometimes I don’t want to get up and go to the store and buy apple juice or have to buy ingredients for whatever kind of green smoothie I want to make. I just want to go in the refrigerator, see what I have, use what I have, and create something from there. A smoothie du jour, if you will.

Today I’ve got some apples in the house, which I got, organic, from Costco, they sell the big 10# bag of organic, red delicious apples and it’s a good price.

I washed them and cut up a couple of them and put them in the VitaMix blender. Then just go ahead and process them without any added water. You’re going to end up with a slurry, because you have taken those whole apples and masticated them in the VitaMix blender.

And after that what I do is, I use a juice bag – all you need is your blender, a juice bag and a bowl. I put the juice bag in the bowl and drape the sides of it over the edges of the bowl. Then just pour your apple slurry into the juice bag, pull on the drawstring, which closes the bag up and squeeze the bag. The juice is “milked” right into the bowl.

If you don’t have a juice bag, don’t worry about it, for years I used an old pillowcase, it was fine. Don’t feel like you have to go out and buy anything. The whole point of this is using what you have and getting started somewhere.

Now that we’ve made the juice, and I’ve got about a cup, I only used 2 apples, this is really for one, this is all I really want right now, I don’t want to make a big blender full today. So I’ve got about 1 cup of the apple juice and I’m going to add to it 1/2 cucumber, a half of a long English cucumber that I peeled and cut up. I love cucumber and I love putting it in my elixirs.

So we have fresh squeezed organic apple juice and I’ve got this beautiful cucumber which is full of water and full of silica for our skin. (Blending.) Ok, and we’re all set.

I love the aroma of my elixirs and the cucumber just bursts right out at you. So, pour it in the glass… all this is is 2 ingredients…mmm, cheers :)

  22. Mashimuzy says:

[..YouTube..] I went to the raw food world site, and they only had nut milk bags.. Is that the one you have right now? I searched for a juice bag and they didn’t have it. I’m planning on getting one on ebay so I was wondering if it’s the same thing..

  23. [..YouTube..] @Mashimuzy Yes, it’s the same bag I’m using – juice / nut milk bag.

  24. HawkeyeNJ says:

[..YouTube..] Please fill in the blanks. You have have 5 possibly 6 apples in the sink. Did you only use 2 apples or more? What was the total? What was the price (good can mean anything) for the 10 pounds of apples? How much did the juice bag cost? Where did you get the bag ? thanks

  25. [..YouTube..] @HawkeyeNJ I used 2 apples but I washed more. You can use as many as you can fit in your blender and you’ll get more juice. The 10 pounds of organic Red Delicious apples cost $8.99 from Costco a year ago when I made this video, but may be a different price now. The juice / nut milk bag in this video is 5 years old and was a gift, so I don’t know what it cost. It has since worn out and I recently ordered 4 bags from rawfood world store .com for $22.00.:) Jane
