Beauty Water Wonder Red Kale and Ginger
My VitaMix Beauty Water Wonder made with red kale and ginger merges the ingredients into a delicate and delightful balance. Recipe below.
It has the texture of water and you still get your greens without having to load the VitaMix with fruit and it’s a wonderful beverage to sip on throughout the day.
All hail kale.
A Wonderful Elixir
Today I am making a Beauty Water. I love my Beauty Waters. Red kale and fresh ginger. Instead of using a lot of fruit as the base for my beauty waters, I use water or in this case I diluted some green tea. All you need to get started are 6 cups of water or 6 cups of green tea in your VitaMix.
I found this beautiful red kale, it’s organic, over at Whole Foods, and that’s what I ‘m using today. When you think Beauty Water, it has the texture of water, it’s not thick like a smoothie, but we still get the fiber from the greens. I think it’s a smoothie and juice combined. I just love them. I made this up this morning and I want to show you that you can go into your refrigerator, see what you have, come up with a few things and concoct yourself a wonderful elixir.
A Leaf, A Nib
Take a large leaf of kale, I’m using the red kale but you can use any variety you like, the dinosaur/lacinato kale, the regular green curly kale, there are several varieties. Place your beautiful green leaf into the VitaMix. Add a little nib of ginger. I had this piece of ginger in the regrigerator, I just broke a little piece off the end, just a tiny piece. You can add more; I like to go light on the ginger because I use it a lot and I also don’t want to overwhelm the other flavors. I want everything to merge delicately.
Squeeze in the juice from one half lime, I found this in the fridge, it had to go, so that’s what I’m using. If you have lemon, I think it’s fine if you go with some lemon. You just want to put a little bit of tanginess in there, it really complements the strong flavor of the kale.
For a little bit of sweetener, I’m using 2 medjool dates, don’t forget to remove the pits, and add those in. I don’t see why you can’t use a TBS of raw honey, or if you’re an agave nectar fan, you can use that. But I like the dates for sweetener because what other sweetener has fiber in it? What other sweetener has potassium in it? And what other sweetener is a whole food? So I’m going for the Medjool dates.
The texture of water, I’m getting my fresh greens. Greens hold The Code, you know that if you’ve gone to my website and gotten my free Bimi Bundle with all the info in it. It’s slightly sweet due to the dates. And the lime and the ginger are just there to give it a little lift. It’s a really wonderful combo. I concoct my Beauty Waters when I’m in the mood for my greens but I don’t want to fill the blender with a lot of fruit.
Beauty Water Wonder; Red Kale and Ginger
6 cups water or green tea (diluted or weak brew)
1 large leaf red kale, you can keep the stem on
Small nib of fresh ginger
juice from 1/2 lime
2 medjool dates, pitted OR 1 TBS raw honey or sweetener of choice
Blend and enjoy. Make this and post your comments and questions!

[..YouTube..] Hi Jane! I made up this beauty water yesterday and let it sit over night to get cold and I have to tell you it is wonderful! So full of flavor with just a pinch of the ginger. I did use a strainer because I didn’t want all the “sediment” mixed in with it and after I strained it I just can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed this. PLEASE make more recipe videos for your beauty waters. Thanks!
[..YouTube..] @OneCeruleanSky Thank you so much! Yes, i will make more and there are more on my website in the menu bar. I appreciate that you came back and are sharing with viewers your modifications so we can all learn from each other and get new ideas. Many thanks, Jane
[..YouTube..] The information about the dates, was wonderful…thanks for your insight! ONE
[..YouTube..] @2411Mach You’re welcome! Come back with your review if you make this Beauty Water!
hi jane -
i have a question about beauty water – is it supposed to replace the green smoothie for that day? is it for days that you don’t really feel like having a lot of greens? i’m just not sure how/when to use it but it looks interesting and delicious. i’m loving your site – especially the videos. my mom and i watched a bunch of your videos the other day and made a great smoothie too – thanks for all the ideas and inspiration!
Hi newbie,
Yes, you can use the Beauty Waters as you suggest and also as a beverage that you can sip on throughout the day. They have a thin, water like texture rather than a thick smoothie like texture.
I created them for me and others who sometimes don’t want a lot of fruit but still want their greens. They’re half way between green smoothie and hardcore green juice.
I don’t consider them a meal replacement as they are very low in calories. I consider them more a beverage. Try some and let me know what you think.
Jane,
I loved ginger snaps as a kid, but when I had morning sickness with both my children ginger was the enemy! It’s been ever since… until this beauty water. We make ours slightly different. We use 2 kale leaves (ours were kinda wimpy small ones), water, 1 squeezed lemon, 4 dates (unsoaked), and 2 tsp. raw manuka honey. It is DELISH! We love it, love it, love it. It goes nicely as a change up from the parsley beauty water, which is our number 1 fave. Yesterday we made that one with spinach, and it was gone in no time. Same for this one. Already halfway through the first batch of beauty water and thinking about what to make for the second one. As always, thanks for posting these wonderful recipes.
Hi Melanie,
You’re welcome! It’s great to get your modifications and creations for more Beauty Water. There is no end to the possibilities.
Have a great, greening day,
Jane
